Murcia – Costa Blanca
The apartment is situated in the region of Murcia, located at the South East corner of the Iberian Peninsula on the Costa Blanca. This area is a mixture of beautiful beaches, miles of orange and lemon groves and terraced vineyards of old Spain. There are sleepy villages inland where a traditional Spanish meal, including wine, can still be enjoyed for €8 (£5.40). Markets abound in every town and village, offering everything from clothes and CDs to wonderful displays of outsize fresh Spanish produce – olives to oranges and everything in between.

The historic regional capital of Murcia, founded in the 9th century, is set against rugged mountain scenery. On the coast are modern resorts with plenty of shopping outlets, restaurants, cafes, bars and clubs. The miles of sandy white beaches, regularly awarded the E.U. blue flag for cleanliness, safety and facilities, are ideal for families or a group of friends.

The Eastern Mediterranean areas of Spain are amongst the healthiest places in the world to live, a fact endorsed by the World Health Organisation. The area offers a pleasant temperature and healthy climate in which to live. The daytime temperature rarely falls below 18°C in Winter and in summer top temperatures average 28-32°C. The region enjoys about 300 days of sunshine a year.

Apartment ‘Las Salinas’ is located in the village of Villamartin which is 20 minutes South of Torrevieja and one hour South of Alicante with its international airport. The nearest airport, St Javier, Murcia, is about 25 minutes away and is regularly served by economy airlines..

A short drive to the South lies the beautiful Mar Menor, which is the largest saltwater lagoon in Europe. It boasts some dozen plus water sports, from sailing to scuba, jet-skiing to fishing. To both North and South are the intriguing salt pans, where huge mountains of almost unreal pink salt, destined to grit the roads of USA and Canada, can be seen.

Water sports are not the only ones available: the area is well endowed with facilities for other sports lovers, none more so than golf. This provides a major attraction of this area which is being developed as an increasingly popular destination for the serious golfer. It boasts world class courses with more being created as part of the regional development plan. The outstanding climate allows golf to be enjoyed virtually all year round.
